Ori and the will of the wisps composer5/10/2023 “We’ve gone to great lengths to up the ante in terms of our storytelling,” Smith told us. We caught up to Senior Producer Daniel Smith and Composer Gareth Coker to talk about how that is coming together.Ī large part of building Ori and the Will of the Wisps is in creating the story, environment, and musical depth that will bring players’ emotional investment back into the game. The team has poured their hearts and souls into ensuring that not only is the Ori sequel a meaningful step forward for the series, but also everything fans want it to be. Nobody recognizes this like Moon Studios. Years later, Ori and the Will of the Wisp is ready to bring players back to Ori’s magical world and there’s a lot of high hopes for the game. Makes me happy to see that, gives me hope for other projects and soundtracks.Ori and the Blind Forest blew players away when it came out in 2015. And for a series like Ori, that is super important.Īlso, what a game to end on for a series, I mean, you couldn't have asked for a better continuation. When you force people to make sequels or whatever, they often don't have their heart in it. I always hope that the story writer has control over a project, that they can leave it where they want to. The story writer already said that they don't think there will be another "Ori" game, this is where they wanted to take the story, and they have taken it there. Especially if it was someone else at the helm of the project, that could go south fast! On the other hand, if they leave it at just these two, they won't have the chance to make us angry. Meanwhile at EA/Activision: Sh*t, let's just create Battlefield 12 / Call of Duty 50. You create one of the best Jump and Runs in the last few decades and abandon the whole IP after 2 Parts. Originally posted by Mizzu:Think about it. Even if you like that game, you have to admit that it is a complete disconnect from the first games, and may as well be a different universe. We cannot have another Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. That won't be good enough, it will require a fresh look at the world, story and gameplay again. And this proverbial type of sequel isn't going to make people happy just by referencing the first two, or by looking like the first two. There are more people that care about the Ori universe and story than ever. And I don't mean taking risks in the story, as this can and will pay off. I feel like they have done something very special with their idea, and if another game is planned, it should be approached with the upmost caution and care. But if it isn't the same story writers, music composer, and same art direction (i.e, painted, layered landscapes in 2D) then I simply don't want another Ori game, or even another game in the Ori universe. I think these two games are some of the best in the world, and absolutely have some of the best music, especially the second game. This is further supported by just how much bigger the game is in scale. The reason I think this is thus: I feel the original team meant for this to be a conclusion of sorts. I'm not sure of that though, I feel that if it happens it will be a different team, which would be one of my least favorite things. I doubt there will be another "Ori" game, but I don't doubt there will be another game in the Ori universe.
